- I will make assessments real, fair and open. Based upon accurate and real market data, in an easy to understand format, I will make fair assessments that rival appraisals in accuracy and detail. This will be provided to each taxpayer along with market evidence of the value of your property.
- Make the Appeals process easy, fair and open for all. So you can get accurate information regarding the property characteristics used in assessment, the process used in determining market value and evidence to support the Assessed Value. This appeal process will also allow you to provide additional data that affects your property so that it can be included in the valuation process. This will be done at Town Halls near where you live. Or you can receive the same information on the Assessors website. You will also be able to appeal and provide additional data about your property via the website.
- Reduce spending at the Assessors Office. Taxes MUST be kept manageable! A start is with the Assessors office budget. I promise to reduce the Assessors Office budget significantly over the coming years through technology upgrades, re-organization of the office and efficiency measures all aimed at increasing service at a reduced cost to the taxpayers.
- Cut the corruption and politics out of Assessments. A fair assessment is the right of every taxpayer. Politics and corruption get in the way of this. I will make ALL assessments FAIR, UNIFORM and Based Upon the Law of Illinois. No more “Pay for Play”!
- I will lobby for legal changes and oversight of the Board of Review. These changes are necessary to make the Board of Review process fair and legal. No more “special consideration” given to special interests who make “campaign contributions”. Just fair Assessed Values based upon real appraisal practices. If the Board of Review cannot justify their actions based upon real appraisal practices, then it will just continue to ruin the uniformity established by the Assessor and make for higher Tax Rates.
